Version 3 of draft Guidelines open for comment
After 30 engagements around Resolution 620 of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the Alliance now presents the fruits of its work – version 3 for public response.
This draft of the Guidelines reflects some 27 pages of wisdom about how the Resolution can be implemented by governments and state agencies, which are duty-bearers in terms of the right to information – and by extension, the right to data.
A supplementary document explains how the latest version incorporated important recent feedback on versions 1 and 2, including from two in-person consultations (Johannesburg and Windhoek, kindly supported by APC).
Comments are welcomed at this online form by Friday 14 December. A 4th version will then be developed to present to the ACHPR’s Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information in Africa.
